The style of Indian wrestling, also known as Pehlw

The style of Indian wrestling, also known as Pehlwani and the person referred to as Pehlwan. Kushti, The traditional Indian wrestling takes place in "Akhada." Akhada is a place for practicing Indian wrestling, in other words, the school of wrestling.

Pehlwani is a form of wrestling from the Indian Subcontinent. It was developed in the Mughal Empire by combining native malla-yuddha with influences from Persian varzesh-e bastani. A practitioner of this sport is referred to as a pehlwan while teachers are known as ustad.

Unlike its ancient ancestor malla-yuddha, kushti does not permit strikes or kicks during a match. Among the most favoured maneuvres are the dhobi paat (shoulder throw) and the kasauta (strangle pin). Other moves include the baharli, dhak, machli gota and the multani.

'Mallakhamba' is an ancient Indian sport that originated as a complementary exercise for wrestling but is now practised as a sport itself. The name is a combination of the words "malla" which means athlete or strong man, and "khamba" which means pole.

There are about 25 types of Mallakhamb available, but for the competitions that take place throughout India, there are three main variations of Mallakhamb. These are fixed pole Mallakhamb, hanging pole Mallakhamb, and rope Mallakhamb. Other exotic variations include Mallakhamb balancing on glass bottles.

In a recent move, the Sports Ministry inducted it into the Khelo India Youth Games.

"Huyen langlon is an Indian martial art from Manipur. In the Meitei language, Huyen means war, while Langdon or langlong can mean net, knowledge, or art.
The thang-ta can be practised in three ways: ritual, demonstration, and combat.

The first way is related to tantric practices and is entirely ritualistic. The second way consists of a spectacular performance involving sword and spear dances. These routines can be converted into actual fighting practices. The third way is the true combat application.
