Did you know India has won a Gold medal in the Asian Games? It was the last gold medal of India that was won in the Asian Games. Midfield maestro Mohammad Yousuf Khan, also best known as the “Galloping Horse” and was rightfully said so as he used to gallop on the pitch like a horse, played a vital role in the win. He was one of the best all-rounder players in Indian football history.

After all these years of glory, there was an unfortunate turn of events when he developed Parkinson’s disease. The legs that created magic on the field by then, struggled to even carry him, and as usual, he was later forgotten by the nation.

K.D Jadhav, a wrestler because of whom the country got its first ever individual Olympic medal in the 1956 Helsinki Olympics. An incredible wrestler who was known to defeat his opponents in minutes thus, getting the name of “The Pocket Dynamo”.

This exceptional wrestler still had to pay for his own expenses to play in the Olympics as there was no one to sponsor him. Later, his life met with a tragic fate. To this day he remains the only Olympian who never received any padma award.
